Abstract

The relationship between cultural and literary studies is marked by a lot of ambiguity. Although cultural studies benefited from the literary study in its beginnings, as its pioneers were literary critics with leftist orientations; it has been able to chart deep analytical paths in various fields of knowledge, and it is growing widely in major universities around the world.

This article tries to introduce “cultural studies” to the Arab reader in a simplified manner, but with the necessary academic depth and methodological integrity, by focusing on the prospects for cooperation between cultural studies and literary studies. It also seeks to identify the basic foci that can be of benefit to the Arabic literary lesson from cultural studies. Especially at the level of mutuality and non-neutrality.

This could constitute a “methodological introduction” to approaching creative regions that live in a state of ostracism and marginalization in our Arab critical discourse.
