Plagiarism and Similarity Policy

Ḍād: Journal of Arabic Linguistics and Literature is committed to the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics, and seeks to ensure the originality and scholarly value of all published works.

Plagiarism Screening

All manuscripts submitted to the journal are subject to plagiarism screening using iThenticate, a professional plagiarism detection tool, prior to peer review or final acceptance for publication.

Assessment of Similarity

The journal adopts a qualitative academic assessment of similarity reports and does not rely solely on similarity percentages. Due consideration is given to distinguishing between:

  • legitimate similarity resulting from properly cited quotations, references, and commonly used terminology,

  • and illegitimate similarity arising from plagiarism, improper citation, or unattributed copying.

As a general guideline, manuscripts with a high level of unjustified similarity that undermines the originality of the work will not be accepted for publication.

Editorial Actions

If unacceptable similarity is detected:

  • the manuscript may be returned to the author for revision,

  • or rejected outright, depending on the severity of the issue.

In cases of serious academic plagiarism, the journal reserves the right to:

  • reject the submission,

  • retract a published article,

  • and take appropriate actions in accordance with its publication ethics policy.

The journal emphasizes that adherence to academic honesty is a shared responsibility of authors, editors, and reviewers, and that any breach of these principles constitutes a violation of scholarly ethics.
