Abstract

This research seeks to shed light on the "rhetorical jokes in the Holy Quran's depiction of the destruction of the people of Noah, peace be upon him. The Holy Quran came in a variety of directions and aspects of its discourse, due to the differences in the addressees in their conditions and levels. The multiplicity of the purposes it intended and the places it addressed, and the different facts it revealed to them, which helped to highlight some of the rhetorical jokes in the Quranic system, and to understand its methods and wise rulings, and the abundance of those jokes that are evident in all the Quranic verses; since the miracle of the Quran appears to the people of knowledge in every field of its fields, it is apparent in its system, language and eloquence, as the words of the Holy Quran are distinguished by their miraculousness such that other words cannot replace them and the meaning cannot be conveyed other than them.
